Mike Has Finished!

Thursday

It’s been a bit of a mission over the last couple of days for Mike to finish the changes to the plans as well as go through all the lighting, all the electrics, all the plumbing, the windows and the doors. I’m learning building a house is not simple.

The big change that we have made is to turn the entire basement into a usable room and not use it as a laundry at all. Initially, it was completely designed to be a laundry, but the day before yesterday as I stood on the slab and looked down, something dawned on me. None of us had considered it before. There below me, as part of the current cottage is a little enclosed scullery with a laundry attached. We already have a laundry. We don’t need another. With that in mind, Mike changed the layout of the basement and it can now be a workshop or gym or office. And it comes with a special little view to the left side of the current house…

We made this change in the nick of time. I don’t know if there will be any others but right now I’m pretty happy with the rest of the plans.

Today I had a number of places to go. I went across to Echo to open for the cleaner. Then I went to the travel agent and bought insurance for our Egypt trip. This was sparked by the fact all our travel arrangements are through SAA. If they go under, we are insured against airline redundancy and a whole list of other nasties. Let’s hope we don’t need any of it.

I came home and worked, then went to gym. After getting home, I checked all the windows on Mike’s plans to make sure they were all on his window inventory. We were supposed to go to Athlone to visit our granite slab, but I postponed that. The day had been hectic. Mike was tired, so I left him to rest and I went to the airport to pick up Julian. There was an accident on the N2 inbound, so we went home via Baden Powell Drive.

We stopped by Echo to see what happened today. The basement after a hard day’s work…

The current laundry roof is in the bottom left hand corner…

Julian and I on the basement today compared to two weeks ago…

In two weeks time, it will be completely different!

After 10pm and time for bed.

Luke 9:35

A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, whom I have chosen, listen to Him.”

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
