Menopause Brain…

3-45pm

Today I googled Menopause Brain to try and figure out if there is a correlation between my sudden sporadic lapse in memory & the fact that I am rapidly approaching the wonderful age of 48. I’ve noticed it recently when trying to find words, usually adjectives or similes. I find myself more and more frequently saying, “I’m trying to find the word for…” or “what’s her/his name again?” You can see the face, but you just can’t get to the name. Sometimes (horror of horrors) the person is sitting right in front of me and my brain takes a fraction longer to get to their name…fortunately, I don’t forget Mike’s name! Also I find that my lapses are related to the ebb & flow of my ‘girl hormones!’

So the online articles are plentiful and partially reassuring. It is completely normal. And in order to accommodate these lapses, best thing to do is concentrate on exercising your brain in a couple of ways. When someone tells you something, repeat it so that instead of just thinking it, you verbalize it to reinforce it. Another interesting piece of research shows that studying later in life, slows the brain’s aging process by up to a decade. So at the end of the day, it seems that exercise both mental and physical will slow down the cognitive aging process, which, as I have seen with Granny, can be quite radical & eventually comes to all of us to some degree or another.

The Bible speaks about the mind too…

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is β€”His good, pleasing and perfect will.

That has eternal benefits!

As for my day, it was a good busy Rise & Shine show. I left CCFm quite early and went to the Mall where I met Lani who is a listener and FB friend. We’ve met before – and I was glad when she reminded me when exactly! She introduced a new weather app for my cell phone and we spent a happy half hour or so chatting. What an amazing story she has to tell of how she met her husband. Their first date was to lead someone to the Lord! Now THAT is impressive!

Then friends arrived & another hour was wiled away socialising. After that it was off home where I got to catch up with some sleep! What a treat!

Here is dinner…

This was last night’s sunset…

I’m not sure what the red blotch is in the middle. It’s not in the pie so maybe it was a speck on the lens.

Yippee! Mike’s home! πŸ™‚Β  πŸ™‚Β  πŸ™‚

Weekend!

God bless you!

In His Grip,
