Lurkers

Thursday

My Mom used to call them Lurkers. This morning around 8am, I got a call from the builder. Werner asked how I was and then he said, “Question. Did one of you cut the electric cord?”  There followed a conversation about the extension lead which is plugged into the kitchen of the current house and goes out the window had been cut. Not stolen. Just cut and left there. Werner asked me to get hold of David so he could unplug it from the inside so it could be fixed.

I phoned David. No one likes getting unexpected calls at 8am. So I always make sure my voice is upbeat. I told David there had been a lurker and that he had cut the extension lead that leaves the kitchen window. It was not missing, but it was cut.

“Oh” said David, “that explains it.”

He went onto say that he had put his phone on charge and sometime between midnight and 4am the electricity had tripped. His phone had stopped charging. He didn’t hear anything, but the wind had been howling.

Mike got in the car and went down to the house to see. After he left, I expressed my displeasure.  This is the one thing I detest – it’s always so disappointing when there is a criminal element lurking about.  I started like praying against it, when I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit. He’s got this. Why do you think it wasn’t stolen? I started pondering what could have happened.  When it was cut, there was either a bang, or maybe even a bit of a shock. Whatever it was, it caused the person/people to drop what they were doing and run.

I’m not one to have blind faith and just do nothing about security. Werner is working hard to get the basement closed so that the tools will be safe. It’s nearly enclosed – just needs a door. Today they filled the second level columns with cement. They also started putting on the clapper board…

The house from the side patio…

And the view from up there…

We are impressed with Werner’s work so far. We are really very happy.

Those are the events and photos of today. Most of the time, I’ve been at home working. I’ve done more than 8 hours work, so started early and finished late and had an outing to the site.

Psalm 30:5

For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the  morning.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
