Friday
We knew this day may come. Today it did. We got locked out the house. But it was not the catastrophe it could have been. Fortunately Julian was in Fish Hoek and able to drive to us and let us in. Here’s what happened:
When Julian comes, he uses Mike’s car which usually is parked on the right side of the garage, while mine is on the left. On my car keys is the key for the left side of the garage and on Mike’s car key is the key for his garage on the right. All makes sense.
However, because Mike was working in my side of the garage, with Julian using Mike’s car, we parked my car on the right side.
When we go to bed at night, we have an internal latch on each garage door which we put on as an extra security precaution. This morning, we went out the right side garage door so that got unlatched. The left side did not. My car has the left side garage door key and when we got home this morning, guess what, we couldn’t get in. My side was latched on the inside. Mike’s side was not, but we didn’t have the key for that garage!😏
Fortunately, these are days of cell phones and quick access. Julian arrived about 15 minutes later and all was well. 😀
That was only the second drama. The first came last night when the key of Echo’s security gate broke inside the gate and David couldn’t get inside. He came back to our house and after a bit of a search for them, took home another door key which allowed him to get in, even if the alarm did go off. This morning early, Mike went down, sawed off the lock, got a new one and we fixed it. We also had a whole lot of duplicates made. 🔑🔑🔑
That was how the day began. Afterwards, I went to see my friends for tea and this afternoon I have done a bit of work. It’s beginning to feel like Christmas. I also got out all the Christmas decorations and decorated our Christmas tree.
While we were fixing the security gate at Echo, I took a few building photos. Firstly, here is the comparison in the basement between when Julian was here two weeks ago – 21st November…
And 5th December…big change…
Today the workers were beginning to create the bridge between the next pile and the current basement….
And the plumber had come to put in the drainage…that’s what the trench was for….
The site is quite treacherous at the moment. There are so many rocks. I have to be very careful.
Blogs done and soon, I’ll go down to the site to see how far they have got today.

Thanks be to God or His indescribable gift.
Amen!
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
