Lock Down Day 7

Thursday

We have done a week of lock down and I’ve been out once. Mike has been out a few times but we are pretty stocked up and I’ve got two grocery deliveries coming in the week ahead so he shouldn’t need to go out for the next week, unless he wants to. Personally, I think staying home is safest in this current climate.

Mike woke up with backache after all his activities over the last two days. We seldom take pills for pain, but today he took a Myprodol which really helped. Apparently, if you have symptoms of Corona, these kind of anti-inflammatory drugs could possibly make it worse, so they are taken with some circumspection. We don’t have symptoms, so hopefully all will be well.

I didn’t work too much today (less than 4 hours) which was great. Tomorrow will be quiet on the work front as well. In fact, I think I may sleep in and really try to rest. It’s easy to get anxious by watching the news and mulling over the possibilities. Today was a beautiful day and I would have gone  for a walk and we certainly would have spent time at Echo, so the lock down felt more stifling than usual. Mike and I had morning coffee and his lemon cake in the back garden. I played geography on Sporcle. At least that’s brain work.

I also finished the 500 piece puzzle. I really enjoyed it. One piece missing.

Puzzles always bring perspective. They remind me of life – each day fits together with ones that have gone before. Sometimes we look at a day and think it’s been a waste or is insignificant but it has a purpose to play in our lives. The plain puzzle pieces are as important as the colourful creative ones. The corner and frame ones are as necessary as the middle ones. They all have a part to play. Some days will be memorable and spectacular. Other days will be ordinary. They all fit into the puzzle of our lives and make up a joyful picture. Embrace each day.

I have another puzzle to start soon, but it’s really difficult. It’s a photograph of the 1993 SA cricket team (Hansie Cronje included) made into a 1000 piece puzzle. I think I have only done it once and I found some seriously tricky spots. I wonder if I’ll find it any easier a couple of decades later. My favourite is one of Cape Town, but I can’t find it at the moment. Maybe I lent it to someone – can’t remember who.

Corona stats:

While South Africa has just been updated, they haven’t updated the number of deaths which has risen to 7. What I also read is the number of cases in the Western Cape: 393 of which 22 are in hospital of which 7 are in intensive care. (I think this was before today’s increase of 82 country-wide).

John 6:29

The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.

Don’t be discouraged. Everything will be all right.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
