Tuesday
Today was the day…
We began Lockdown Stage 3 again. Last night the President spoke and reintroduced stricter measures to curb the second wave of Covid which we have been experiencing over the last ten days. Having crossed the million case milestone, something needed to be done, especially as there is such a strain on medical facilities at the moment. Banning alcohol sales is one of the most important restrictions. Alcohol abuse in the country is high and results in major alcohol related emergencies – an increase in motor vehicle accidents and general violence puts unnecessary pressure on hospitals. In the country’s hotspots, including Cape Town, the beaches have been closed, so my delicious swimming opportunities instantly have ground to a halt. The beach looks all but deserted as I write, although I can see a couple of walkers quite far down the kilometre long stretch of sand.
The sea is calm today. The wind is blowing in from the north. I have stayed home, but will go for a walk in a little while. Apart from a little bit of paid work, I’ve cleaned the house and done some online grocery ordering. My first delivery arrived. The man with the groceries was somewhat out of shape. When I saw him, I tried to get down to him as soon as I could so he wouldn’t have to come right up to the top. He had managed 2/3 of the steps by the time I got out, so I told him to leave the bags on the steps. He was grateful for that, but needed a bit of time to get his breath back before he returned down the stairs. 83 steps is not for the faint hearted.
So apart from working around the house, I’ve also enjoyed frequent (permitted) visitors…
And a bedroom view that I don’t think will get old…
We hope for lower Covid numbers in the days ahead.
It’s been a good day to rest.
Lamentations 3:22
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.
The best is yet to come.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
