Letter To Stacey

12-10pm

From the moment I got up this morning, my heart has been stretched 14 000km across land and sea to Phnom Penh in Cambodia where you, Stacey are quietly celebrating your 25th birthday! A lot has happened since you made your spectacular appearance at 2-08pm on Friday 4th December 1987 in Paarl Hospital.

I often say there are no perfect parents in the world! If I knew then, what I know now about you, I would definitely have raised you differently. I would have let you be more of unique individual you are, instead of trying to make you more like me! LoL. You are like your Dad in so many ways! How come I didn’t see it? I don’t know why, but there it is! You are you & I would have you no different.

These are many  qualities I appreciate about you…

Sensitive – making you  exceptionally caring & a champion of the underdog.

* Technically minded and Terribly Clever – far more intelligent than you give yourself credit for!

* Adaptable – you’ve proven that in all this travelling! You have always adapted well to whatever circumstances you found yourself in.

* Christian – You came to know the Lord at Easter in 1992 – you were 4. Aunty Mari told you the Easter Story and you responded. You have never waivered from your faith in Christ. You have served in so many capacities, engineering for me on air on CCFm when you were only 12. Lots and lots of missions trips, doing sound for youth and church.  Even now, reaching out to those around you in small, loving ways that impact the people you meet. 🙂

*Easy-going and calm! The number of times you have said, ‘it’s okay Mom!’ You are amazing!

*You! You are UNIQUE! You are a comedian’s joy. You are delightful! You are creative, original and helpful!

Nearly 4 – entertaining David

For us, it’s hard to believe that a quarter of  a century has passed! We relish the idea that 25 more years will pass before Dad or I will head for heaven. We anticipate with joy the years ahead and all that you and Adrian will accomplish in them. We are eternally grateful that you both know the Lord.  In the words of Mrs. Bennet, ‘God has been very good to us!’

Teaching David KTV exercises… you must have been about 5 years old.
