Less Water Restrictions For Cape Town

Yay! From Saturday 1st December, the water restrictions in Cape Town will be lowered to Level 3.  We are still counting the number of litres we are allowed but it’s a whole lot more do-able. At the height of the drought earlier this year, we were restricted to 50 litres of water per person per day. Then it went up to 70 litres and from Saturday it’s going to be an extravagant 105 litres per person per day. This last month we averaged 157 litres per day for our household of three, so we are still well within the boundary. In fact the new regulation is that if you use less than 6000 litres of water a month (200 litres a day), you’ll have your tariff reduced by 35%.

#967 of my 1000 thanks is Level 3 water restrictions! Such a joy!

We are even allowed to water our garden: Watering the garden with a bucket or watering can is allowed before 9am or after 6pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Mike has been watering the back lawn using the back tank of rain water, but he is seeing the water level dropping drastically and with not much rain in sight, we are not sure how soon it will get filled up again.

In the meantime, the things I am really going to enjoy are:

  • Showering every day without being neurotic about the water running down the drain.
  • Washing my toothbrush properly instead of rinsing it out in a glass of water.
  • Flushing the toilet sometimes using municipal water.
  • Doing more laundry. Hey, I can even go back to washing our bed linen once a week. What a treat.

So grateful for the rain we have had and that which is still to come. God is faithful! So glad that Christmas visitors will get to enjoy their holiday without the water issues of last year.

Today has been a productive day. I only got about 4 hours of paid work done, but got some other things done as well, like a haircut and pedi!

I also went and bought some more of these…

I filled up the bird’s nectar bottle…

And it wasn’t long before my feathered friends were flitting around fighting over the juice.

Psalm 128:1

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

Mixed things up. I had coffee (Amazing ‘Bush Brew’ Zambian coffee from Mbala!) before I went. Clearly it gave me some extra energy!

  • 2 minutes on the hand bike – this is a crazy machine, using your hands to push a wheel round and round. When you increase the resistance, it’s a hectic upper arm and stomach workout.
  • 30 minutes on the Grid!
  • 15 minutes Abs class.
  • 10 minutes on the bike
  • 5 minutes on the stepper
  • Stretches.

Braces:

Day 16
