4-21pm
Over the weekend, I am Mike’s Mom’s (aka Granny’s) main carer. If I just leave her to her own devices, she will get up, but stay in her pajamas. If we don’t prepare her meals, she probably will find some bread and possibly toast it. But then she will eat it dry. So every Saturday & Sunday morning, I get up, make her tea and breakfast and take it to her. Last night I did a deal with Mike. I offered to go and make him hot chocolate & prepare Granny’s grapefruit (which she loves), if he made coffee for me this morning and took Granny tea and breakfast. HE AGREED! Marriage is definitely about compromise and communication!
So, this morning, I enjoyed a leisurely lie-in, snuggled into bed, while the last of the showers was falling! That was a treat. After 9, we left Granny making her bed (her primary job) and nipped out for breakfast and some shopping. Believe it or not, on our return, she was still sorting out her bedroom and still in her pajamas. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing to stay in bed all day, especially when it’s cold! So we allowed her the pleasure of a lazy day!
While we were out, one of the things we had to do was exchange the kettle…again. Many blogs ago, I talked about exchanging a kettle. Well the new one croaked (actually it was May 10th I bought the last one!) so we returned it. But instead of going the cheap route, as Mike & I were together, we could make a joint decision about buying the royalty of kettles…
Hopefully, it will last longer than a month!
While buying the kettle, I couldn’t resist buying another little thingy that will enable me to have cappuccinos at work! Now THAT will impress PJ on a Thursday…if I whisk up a cappuccino for him. This is not battery operated….you just plunge it up and down…
It cost R100. Here is the milk beforehand…
Whisk, whisk, whisk,…
By plunging it up and down the whisk spins and VOILA…
Cool, hey! Looking forward to Monday!
Plans for this evening are to get Granny down for the night and then go out for dinner. 🙂 Then home for the Christmas edition of Downton Abbey which we have booked out from the video store!
This is a good message for today…9th June
Galatians 6 (June) :9 (9th day) Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Keep going. You can do it! You’re in His grip,
Love Helga x 🙂
