Dinner Distaster….Culinary Recovery….

2-18pm

A nice early blog today. Did the show…lots of sms’s. Just before 10, I was off to my weekly ladies meeting. I love it. We need each other. Good chats. Great teaching by Andy Stanley. Look out for his series called Twisted!  Now I’m home and tucked up in bed watching the French Open and enjoying being in from the rain! Talking of which the covers are now on the courts and rain has suspended play in Paris! Good time to do my blog.

I had some redeeming to do last night when it came to dinner. Mike does not like chilli or anything related to the chilli family including tikka sauce. Now this is not a new fact to me! Wednesday night we had the rest of Tuesday’s  soup (good)  and to supplement it I ordered pizza (not-so-good). I didn’t read the fine print of the topping and ordered a sizzling hot, tikka topped, chilli-burning pizza (very, very bad!)  So poor Mike came home, starving hungry had soup and then the pizza arrived and as soon as we opened it, I realised the error of my ways! Mike is generosity personified and said, ‘don’t worry, I’ll have toast.’ :-O I couldn’t have that, so I nobly said, ‘the fault is mine and so must the remedy be’ (thank you Jane Austen!) and I jumped in my car and went and bought another pizza from the grocery store, came home, cooked it and that was that.

Last night, however, I thought I couldn’t do that again to my long-suffering husband. Knowing his love for rich brown stew, I started preparations at 1pm and had it in the slow cooker for the entire afternoon…

Accompaniments also went down very well…

Mike was in his element! So I have redeemed myself! 🙂

Tonight we are having Woollies chicken pie and more veggies. I’m off to check on Granny and make tea. When it’s cold like this, she curls up in bed….SUCH a good idea!

This morning on air, I quoted Isaiah 55 – I also posted the passage on Facebook. On both occasions I said it was from Isaiah 10. I don’t know how that happened, so just to get it right here is Isaiah 55:8-12…

Isaiah 55
“8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,? declares the Lord.
9 As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy. and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

God loves us uniquely and individually. Go out in joy. Be led forth in peace. Embrace today and be happy!

God bless you LOADS!

In His Grip,

Love Helga ♥ 🙂
