Julian’s Door Won’t Open

Tuesday

Today is the day…

Julian arrives! It’s funny how things happen and for people like me, I am always in awe at the timing. I have been so enjoying giving Mike gifts each day in the run up to his 70th birthday. Today I went on another shopping spree and bought a whole lot of stuff – some for the house that we need that can conveniently be gifts for him – more clothes that he will appreciate and of course, snacks! A couple of the things I bought are quite bulky so when I came in, I stored them in the guest bathroom and after dinner, I told him I need him to away! He looked at me curiously! What does that mean? I said he could go and sit on the balcony, but to not look inside. Then I had a different idea. Why don’t you go and sit on Julian’s balcony and I’ll call you when I’m done. He thought that was fine, so he took his coffee and off he went.

I got the big bag of gifts and sorted them out and hid them in various places. As soon as I was done, I went up the stairs only to find him standing at the top. “We have a problem” he said. “Why? What’s up?” I asked, Julian’s door was closed.  “Julian’s door won’t open!” The key was in the door and it was unlocked, but the lock had broken and it wouldn’t open! Mike had tinkered a bit, but needed tools to go further…

He went to the basement to get tools and soon had it open…

Only to find it had not been installed properly. More tools were fetched and explanations were made of rods and pins. Something had slipped out of place. Helga would have needed to call a locksmith. Mike fixed it. When we go and collect Julian at the airport, he’ll be able to get into his apartment. If Mike hadn’t gone upstairs so I could conceal his gifts, this problem would have needed to be sorted later this evening after dark. And, Julian may have been unjustly accused of the breakage! Good timing.

Mike and I started the day right! We went for an early morning beach walk and swim. It was deliciously good! It’s a really great way to start the day. After that I worked for about 5 hours.

It’s been a good day!

John 15:12

This is My commandment, that you love one another  as I have loved you.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
