About 24 hours ago I arrived back in Cape Town, picked up my car and drove home. Tired but thankful to be home safe and sound and that the busy week was over. This morning I woke late and just fell back into my routine, all just a little later than usual.
I caught up with my Bible reading. I did my exercises. I went to my ladies Bible study. I completed the three blogs on the Maldives. I worked.
It’s one of the reasons for the late blog. This is the last thing I have to do before I am entirely caught up with everything that needs to be done today. 🙂
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been thinking of down-scaling my blog platform. When I started my blog, I was on air and it was the norm to try and promote my radio show and social media was the way to go. So I used the blog and Facebook as a promotional tool. Not being on air any more, I don’t need to promote myself. The Helga’s Daily Blog Facebook page has served it’s purpose and I don’t feel I have need for it any more. I don’t mind that less people read what I write. I don’t count how many people are reading. I ignore the stats and I’m writing more and more as a historical account of my life, so I can leave some fingerprints behind for the generation still to come. So from 1st March 2017, I won’t be posting the link for this blog to Facebook at all.
I’ll still be writing each day and I think what I write will take on a more personal note. As I think about this, I’m actually quite excited – there’s a bit of freedom of taking it off social media, so I feel it is the right thing to do.
Moving onto something else that has been on my mind. For many months, Mike has been pondering the words of the Lord’s prayer. A prayer that has probably been memorized at sometime in school by most of the Western world, it is often recited without much thought. And yet within it there is power.
One of the significant things Mike mentioned this morning is the only action in the prayer that we need to take. It’s our only responsibility mentioned within the prayer.
Luke 11:4
“…and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.”
Forgiveness. Such a powerful word and far more powerful when implemented in our lives. When we were burgled in October and my laptop was stolen, the next time I prayed the Lord’s prayer which was about the very next day, that line stood out for me. Suddenly, it became very real. As the thief offended me, I too have many times before offended God. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. I forgave. It was a great lesson.
In fact there was another blessing that came out of the thief’s actions. We got our bedroom door security gates and on these hot summer nights, we can sleep protected with the doors wide open and the security gates securely closed.
#211 of my 1000 thanks is home safe and sound and happy and healthy.
#212 of my 1000 thanks is for those security gates!
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
