It’s The Little Things

A good marriage is made up of little things. And it’s a myriad of those little things that accumulate to rise to a giant big glorious thing. Mike is brilliant at little things. Like when I work late and come to bed to find my bed drawn back and waiting for me. On a cold night, the electric blanket is on. He often comes to bed a couple of hours after me. He checks I’m warm enough. He makes me coffee in the morning and does dozens of things that make my life easier.  Today I was reminded that Mike knows the value of little things when he bought these…he will walk the Mall to get the right ones…

When I opened the fridge to get out the ingredients to make the salad, I had to smile. These are not available where we usually shop. It means Mike made a trip to get the  Living Hope baby tomatoes.

Little things.

He’s a gem! I am appreciating every moment. Life is fragile and I want to breathe in these days we have together.

Today I knew I was going to hit the road running. I started work at about 6am and went to gym around 9am. Mike had a dentist appointment at 12. It was harsh. A while ago he had an extraction but it turned out a piece of the tooth got left behind. Today, after a course of antibiotics, he went to have it removed and it was harder to get out than expected. He came home with his mouth stuffed with gauze and instructions to not have anything hot for 24 hours.  He took it easy for the rest of the day. I went down to Echo to see if the neighbours had returned from holiday. They still haven’t. Possibly Wednesday.

I worked this afternoon and then cooked dinner. Now I’ve made tea. Mike is feeling better.

Monday has been a good day.

Psalm 119:89

Your Word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

Of that we can be sure.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Braces:

Day 181 – it’s 6 months.

I’m 6 months into this journey. We are also some months into the journey of building. Great things happen slowly.
