Is That a Train?

Monday

Today was the day…

I went back to work! I worked about 6 and a half hours. It was a good first day. I think this week will be slow as schools are still closed and people feel they are still on holiday.

I heard a rumble outside and thought, “is that a train?” Sure enough, the line has been repaired and a train slowly rolled past on the railway line below…

A train went past in the direction of Simon’s Town 3 times, but I didn’t see any of them return, so I’m not sure what is going on. I heard via the grapevine the line was clear as far as Glencairn, but there is still sand on the line between Glencairn and Simon’s Town. They may have got that cleared and now they are storing old trains in Simon’s Town. None of the trains that went past were the spiffy new blue ones. We’ll see what happens in the days ahead. These are the “exciting events” that get my attention when I’m sitting at my desk for 6 hours of the day!

Apart from that, there are always the birds to entertain me. The teenage (long-tailed) sugar birds are not so partial to half a cup of sugar, so the bottle lasted longer than a day. I filled it this morning and it’s now just over half full. They are still visiting but not in the droves, nor in the frenetic frenzy that a full cup of sugar produces.  I guess it makes sense if I think of putting sweets in front of kids – they’d squabble over them to be sure. Put peanuts down and there wouldn’t be quite such a fight. It does mean the little white-eyes, colourful sunbirds and the occasion bulbul are also getting to visit. There is also a large bossy wild canary who demands respect from even the biggest sugar bird.

We didn’t swim today, but I am planning to tomorrow. I counted my bites….there must be 100 at least. They are feeling better today and tomorrow will most likely not be felt at all.

Time to go and put on the baked potatoes. Julian can also expect that for dinner  tomorrow evening! He won’t mind. He’s the easiest person to feed and always appreciative.

Psalm 33:11

The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
