Hello Cape Town!

Sunday

Today we decided to go for a drive and see Camps Bay. We went Chapman’s Peak Drive and stopped a number of time, although this first photo was taken from the car as we slowly drove up Chappies. Noordhoek Beach…

Chapman’s Peak Drive was buzzing with walkers, runners, cyclists (of course dozens and dozens of them) cars, tour buses and motor bikes. It’s the SA equivalent (in a genteel sort of way) of Italy’s Amalfi Coast. You have to see the Amalfi Coast to understand why Chapman’s Peak Drive is the lessor, safer more genteel version. On Chappies, I feel safe. On the Amalfi, parts of it were loud and hair-raising. Not only do you have a narrow road adjacent to a steep cliff, but you also have houses, hotels and villages tumbling haphazardly down the cliff toward the sea, complete with all the thousands of people and tourists who make up life in that scenic part of the world.   This two-minute video gives you a snippet…

Forget Amalfi, head for Chapman’s Peak!

We drove through Hout Bay and made our way to Camps Bay, where we parked and walked. First stop was the Tidal Pool…

We then walked on to Clifton, where we took a walk through Clifton 4th. This is the entrance…

Past quaint houses…

Down a lane…

And onto the rocks right next to the beach…

It was  wonderful to be a tourist in my own town…

We definitely need to do this again!

We came home in time for lunch. After that, we both had an afternoon sleep. I woke up just after 5pm, dragging myself groggily down to the kitchen to make tea. We went to church in the evening. It’s been a lovely weekend.

Romans 8:6

The mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.
