Helga Aged 1

Thursday

Yesterday, someone posted this on Facebook:

When Mike and I were out walking yesterday we started debating the issue. I have concluded that whether you agree or disagree depends on your personality type. Mike in the end said Motivation is the Master that drives Discipline the slave to do the Work. We looked at different scenarios. Reading through the Bible in a year needs discipline and to do it, discipline is more important than motivation. If someone wants to lose weight, it’s that motivation that drives them to exercise, diet whatever is called for, so then motivation may be more important than discipline, initially. Discipline will be needed to success. For me, I am very disciplined in exercising daily, but the motivation to get out of bed at 5am to do the exercise is slipping. I end up exercising but it’s later in the day. Discipline is more important than motivation.

The personality differences between Mike and I:

  • Mike says Motivation is more important.
  • Helga agrees Discipline is more important than motivation, hence the daily blog, daily exercise, daily reading through the Bible, daily flossing.

It doesn’t really matter. They both go hand in hand, that’s for sure.

I have this photo on my desk. I am so happy to have it. I remember it from my childhood. I smile when I look at it because essentially I have the same happy disposition I had 54 years ago. I do feel blessed to be an optimist. To whichever descendant of mine who reads this, if you are an optimist, you got it from me!

And good news! Elsie is home! She has a quiver of allergies, but they can be worked around and from now on in, she should be fine.  We are grateful!

I went to the orthodontist today. I asked him if we are getting closer to a timeline for the surgery. “Absolutely!” he said. “There will be another one or two appointments.” He is very happy with the progress and is now just pulling my top right teeth in a bit (I think that’s what he said), so new wires. I see him in 7 weeks. I’m really hoping the surgery can be done before the end of November. I want to get that over and done with asap!

Nearly time to head for the airport!

Romans 5:1

Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Peace.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

  • Cycled an hour – I was disciplined and motivated this morning. I had a busy day and knew an early morning workout would work.
