Goggles Came Home

Wednesday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day the goggles came home. They were the ones I left at the beach yesterday. When I arrived at the beach today, immediately someone said ‘are you Helga who lost the goggles? Aly was here. She has your goggles’. It’s the power of the Neighbourhood Watch chat group! The goggles have some history. Last April when we did the cruise to Namibia, I was keen to swim in the ship pool, but had left my goggles at home. My very first dip made me realise eye protection is required. The water was super salty and burned my eyes. We visited the ship shop and bought these ones and they have been my favourite robust Italian goggles ever since.

Aly who retrieved them wasn’t planning on being down on the beach today but it was such an awesome, windfree morning, it was difficult not to go. As I showered afterwards and put my cap and goggles on the wall above the shower, two of the regulars walked past and were quick to chirp to me not to forget them! Day after day I follow the same routine. I turn the shower on and rinse off the goggles before putting them on the wall while I shower.  I’ve done it over and over again. Then yesterday I was distracted and forgot to take the goggles down! Hopefully, it won’t happen again.

I’ve had a solid day’s work today – more than 7 profitable hours under my belt. We will soon go walking so I’m going to wrap this up and then nip down to the cottage to put some final touches in there before the guests arrive tomorrow.

Psalm 11:4
The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord is on His heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; His eyes examine them.

The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
