Full Steam Ahead…

Full Steam Ahead….

Yesterday afternoon we walked and talked and ate and socialised. We also found a shady, quiet spot on one of the lower decks and took advantage of the great view and sunbeds in the shade.

As the afternoon wore on, we kept an eye on the cricket, had a leisurely meal and watched flamenco dancing. Hoping to stay awake for the midnight party, we soldiered on until we couldn’t keep our eyes open and fell into bed around 11pm & missed it altogether! After sleeping like a log, we met up with the family for breakfast. Then it was a few kilometres of exercise on the running track. Here is Mike finishing up running 4km…

Then we swam and had a fab soak in the jacuzzi. The pool was wonderful…

The entertainment crew are always trying to lure passengers into various activities. Mike played their version of ‘golf’ which was putt putt on the deck – very tricky given the movement of the ship! We met up with the family and were entertained by David regaling amusing  stories, one of which was something his Dad did and how his Mom reacted. He had Stacey and Jessica in stitches…

Other activities took place too, like David and Adrian played chess &  David challenged Stacey to punch him as hard as possible to see if he could feel it. She wasn’t successful, but enjoyed trying…

After a rest we went off to the Sunrise Terrace at the front of the ship. We have hardly had cell phone reception, so it was great to finally get it off East London.

The ship is well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. The weather has been absolutely fantastic, with calm seas and warm days. Not too much wind. The world goes by at a very gentle, peaceful pace. There is no stress in this world. The cares & worries of the world are back on land. Here, there is no poverty. There is no crime. Everyone has food in their tummies (too much usually!) and a comfortable bed in which to sleep. There is lots of laughter and satisfaction. Everyone is relaxed. It’s easy not to worry here. There’s not much to worry about! The Bible exhorts us not to worry. Philippians 4:2-4-“Do not be anxious about anything but with prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, make your requests be made to God and the peace of God that passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

I guess we need to go through life not worrying about anything and knowing that if troubles do come, we have a Lifesaver, who we can turn to and who will get us out of trouble!

Durban is about 18 hours away! Tomorrow’s blog will be done later tomorrow after we have flown home and I have sorted my life out and gone back to the ‘real world’!  Then I will be on air on Monday morning, feeling like I’ve been away for three weeks and not the three nights that have taken me on a journey I will never forget! Who knows may be one day, we’ll do it again!

God bless you richly!

Helga xx 🙂
