Arriving in Durban & Coming Home…

5-24pm

Yesterday after I’d rushed to put the blog up, we did a bit of walking. Julian and David meanwhile had a serious game of ping-pong…

When we got back to our cabin, the bed had been turned back…

We slept very very well!  I woke really early this morning and quickly had a look through the porthole to see if we could see Durban! We could! The sea was exquisitely calm and we were going very very slowly. After dressing and packing we then  headed up to the top deck for breakfast and to experience our arrival at Durban Harbour. I felt so privileged as I stood on the deck, watching small fishing and pleasure boats coming out to watch the Melody arrive. There was waving and hooting and lots of photo taking.

A bit windswept…on the front deck with Durban in the background…

This is the tugboat that guided us in…

Finally, we docked…

After going through the Passenger Terminal we said goodbye to Julian and Jessica and headed for Durban airport aboard a bus. We got there a few hours ahead of our flight, so found a cafe with free internet and I sat and did show prep…

Yep! My Rise and Shine mug went on the journey with me!

Eventually it was time to board. Here is the family walking to the boarding gate…

Homeward Bound…

We arrived back in Cape Town at about 3pm. Collected our luggage and then headed out to pay for parking. Last week when we went to pick up Julian & Jessica from the airport we took two cars and left one at the airport for today’s return journey! That all went according to plan. Three days at the airport, parking cost R204.

Now we are home. Granny and Sally are both fine and we are readjusting to normal life after a thoroughly exhilarating adventure, one that has been enjoyed by all!

To one who has been long in city pent,
‘Tis very sweet to look into the fair
And open face of heaven, – to breathe a prayer
Full in the smile of the blue firmament.
~John Keats, Sonnet XIV

Nehemiah 9:6 “You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship You.”

Thank you Jesus!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
