Fashion Faux Pas

For 340 years people have learned the term ‘faux pas’ and it usually is related to a blunder in etiquette!

A few years ago after spring had sprung and I was still working at CCFm – up at the lark – the days would start cold and warm up. I knew the day would become warmer so I made the biggest most common fashion faux pas around…

socks-and-sandals

Socks and sandals! I used to wear socks for the duration of the Rise and Shine show and then after 9 when I left the studio, I would whip off the socks and my feet would appear in public! On the odd occasion, someone would be n the studio and see my warm feet and they would laugh!

I laughed at myself this morning as I reflected on this fashion no-no and I was grateful that God doesn’t judge us by our fashion sense or lack of it! False step indeed!

#15 in my 1000 thanks list – God does not judge us by our fashion sense or lack of it! Staying with spring, #16 is the fact that the vine is finally budding.  I somehow thought that previous years it was further along than this, but on looking at other photos, it seems it’s on time…

So today has been a quiet day that started off with gym and I have got some work done.

One of the many pleasures of my work life (#17 of 1000 thanks) is a whattsapp group that I have with  5 South African teachers who I helped to recruit for a school in Kuwait. The visas have taken super long to arrive and 4 of them are still waiting to leave. The one who has arrived in Kuwait already has been so useful in letting the others know what else they need to bring. It’s warmed my  heart to see these 5 strangers form a bond and they will soon (hopefully before the end of the month) be on their way to meeting each other in Kuwait.

Sometimes waiting can be the worst of all feelings – it’s so tiring. It’s just not knowing. This morning I was reminded of a wonderful promise from God.

Isaiah 40:28-31

Do you not know?  Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,   and His understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary  and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary,  and young men stumble and fall;  but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;  they will run and not grow weary,  they will walk and not be faint.

And that is number 18 of 1000 thanks.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
