Elsie is 1 Month Old

21st June 2018 – Elsie came into the world a month ago today and is thriving. She now weighs 4.5kg, is growing well and sometimes even sleeps through most of the night! She loves looking at her Mom. The other fun thing that happened is that she was crying, so Stacey walked up to her and Elsie saw her and stopped crying. First they thought it was a coincidence, so Stacey started walking away. Elsie watched her go and as soon as she was out of sight, she started crying again. Sweet child is 5 squares long…

While we were in Swellendam last time, Stacey sewed while I looked after Elsie. As a result Stacey managed to finish a special gift  in time for Riana’s 50th birthday….here is the birthday girl with the personalised cushion for her sweet pup….

I’ve been on a winning streak on Words with Friends – I’ve won 32 games in a row. It is Riana who is about to pop my bubble! The tide is turning!

It has been a good day. The first half was crisp and clear with sunshine, but soon a cold front rolled in and there was some blustery drizzle. The huge amount of rain that has fallen in the Western Cape has pushed the dam levels to over 40%. This time last year they were only 27%. Generally, the people in the City of Cape Town are using less water, so hopefully things won’t be so drastic in the year ahead. I cannot imagine going back to how wasteful we were before.  Our water bill came today. They had an accurate summary of our use for March to May. We have used (three of us) 120 litres per day, so on average 40 litres each. That is amazing. The tank water has gone a long way in helping us achieve that.

The rain has also turned the garden around. This is the back garden…

And this is the front…

It’s all looking so much greener. It does help that the gardener was here yesterday and gave it a good cut.

Talking of green, #697 of my 1000 thanks is for, wait for it, green traffic lights! There are so many sets of traffic lights in my area. Yesterday I was going somewhere and had to go through 6 sets of lights over a quite short distance. I got FIVE of them green! Yeah! So seldom happens, so when it does, it’s YEAH!!

Proverbs 2:10-12

Wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
