Dressing Up and Learning the Jive

Tuesday 24th October 2017

Over the last couple of days, the wind has picked up and as a result we have had some additional swell. It has meant that when we are at the gym and on the treadmill, it is safest to hold on while walking or running. The motion of the ship is interesting. You do a sort of ship cha-cha where do walk three steps sideways and then two steps back!  Everyone looks as if they have all had too much to drink. We all look as if we are walking drunk! It’s quite entertaining.

Last night was Gala night and so we dressed up….

It was a lovely evening.

Today, I suddenly got a sense of time on our cruise is running out, so all the things I’ve seen in the daily programme and not done, I decided to go do. I think Mike is going to be up all of tonight as he slept for hours today! We both did a work out at the gym which was great. After lunch, I went and had a swim and after 10 lengths, I soaked in the Jacuzzi. The wind was strong on the top deck, so I walked around it and got dry pretty quickly!

After that I went to the Big Fat Fact Quiz and then went to the Talent Show. Both were quite entertaining. Getting back the cabin, I found Mike awake and after a bit of reading, we both went to the deck to swim. The pool was empty and most people had left the deck and headed in for dinner. We had the pool and Jacuzzi to ourselves. After showering and changing, we went upstairs to the casual buffet dinner.

Then at 8pm this evening, we went and learned The Jive! Oh to be a fly on that wall! It took us half an hour and we were both drenched in sweat with our heart rates up! I don’t know if I will remember it, but it was fun to try!

This is our 18th night on the ship. This evening as I stood on the balcony and watched the dark turmoil of the water below and I looked up into the night sky and saw the grand expanse above, I was struck by how tiny we are.  If I made the red dot any smaller you wouldn’t be able to see it…but that’s where we are now…

We arrive in Mauritius tomorrow. This is the tracking map…

The other thing that struck me as I stood on the (now very familiar) balcony is how it would look through the eyes of someone who had never been on it before. I was again in awe at this amazing view and entire opportunity. As Mike and I walked around the deck, I commented that the long-awaited cruise that I booked in July 2016 is suddenly coming to an end. It is a reminder for us to enjoy each moment that we live.

Romans 15:13

May God, the source of hope, fill you with joy and peace through your faith in Him. Then you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

#456 of  my 1000 thanks is for the pleasure I am getting out of the liberal showers I am able to take. I am extremely aware that next week, it’s back to frugal use of our precious Cape Town water.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
