“Don’t Make Life Difficult for Your Future Self”

I liked this quote very much. It was said by Stacey. We were chatting on the phone and talking mainly about money and saving and not having debt. If you get into debt early in your life, you are making life difficult for your future self. You want to make life easier for your future self by buying within your means and paying off debt as soon as you can.

Such sound advice.

It can be applied to all people at all ages in many different areas of life.

When you are at school, study hard so you pass your exams, as if you don’t you will be making life difficult for your future self.

When working, work hard, be kind, learn from others, don’t rub people up the wrong way – you want life to be easier for your future self.

When you get paid, don’t blow it on unnecessary stuff – pay cash as much as possible. Live within your means. Don’t buy what you can’t afford. Save. In doing so you will be making life easier for your future self.

Following the guidance of the Bible ensures that you will live a balanced life – staying in God’s will and that too will make life easier for your future self.

And even for me at aged 52 and 8 months, I can do things that will make life easier for my future self. Exercise, keep fit, eat healthily, live simply, get rid of excess, stay happy, continue to follow hard after God – all that will benefit me in the future.

As Stacey said those words to me today, they struck a chord with me and I dashed to my diary to write them down before I forgot!

Thanks Stace!

On another note, today I remember my Dad who had he stayed on earth, would have celebrated his 85th birthday today. He is in heaven and far better off in a wonderful world of peace and fulfillment. If I had to guess what Dad is doing, I would imagine that hanging out with Paul would be part of his occupation. Paul would only be the start. So many people he read about, wrote about and found fascinating, I could imagine he has looked up in eternity to find out more about them and maybe to thank them for the impact they had on his life.

My Dad was a great reader, a gift he passed onto Julian. He was a prolific writer, a gift he passed onto me. During his life, I don’t think he lived by Stacey’s wise words of trying to make life easier for his future self, but he did live life simply. He was generous and kind. The gifts he gave me were unconditional love, unconditional acceptance and he trusted me. They were wonderful healthy gifts and I have benefited from them for my entire life.

I remember my Dad today with a great deal of fondness. This was him on my wedding day…

Very heart-warming for me.

#364 of my 1000 thanks is for the three special gifts my Dad gave me – unconditional love, unconditional acceptance and his trust. I appreciate those.

And the verse I have that is in his handwriting…

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
