You’ll Always Have What’s Gone Before

One of the things we did this weekend was follow the Open Golf Tournament, the UK’s most prestigious tournament and one of the world’s  majors.  Five South African’s made cut but four of them failed to move up the leader-board leaving Branden Grace to fly the South African flag. There are lots of lessons to learn from the game of golf and Branden’s incredible performance on day three (yesterday) is one of them. He played brilliantly and went round in a record-breaking 62. No one has every done that in a major before.

It was a phenomenal performance, but not one he could repeat today. Even though he finished at -4 and didn’t win, no one can take away yesterday’s round. He’ll have that in his memory for ever.

Most people look at their past with disappointment at the bad things that have happened. About that the Bible has this to say,”

Philippians 3:13-14

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

But there are lots of great things that have happened in our lives – gifts that God has given us,  that we can enjoy for the rest of our days. Ponder them, smile at them and appreciate them.

The other lesson learned from golf is never give up. Today Jordan Spieth look set to walk away with the tournament but from the first hole, things started falling apart. He soon lost the lead to Matt Kucher and drastic action had to be taken. Looking determined, he resolutely set his mind back on the prize and after a horrendous bogey, he scored birdie, eagle, birdie, par and birdie to finish three ahead of his closest opponent. He could have wilted, but he refused to give up.

At just a few days before his 24th birthday, Jordan Spieth has just one his third major golf championship.

He did it.

You can watch more about Jordan here.

We too can succeed. To do so, we have to keep on going.

#356 of my 1000 thanks is for a relaxing day including an afternoon nap. 🙂

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
