David’s First Marathon!

11-48am

This morning I woke up to the alarm at 4-40am. By 4-45am, David had arrived, eggs and bacon were made and eaten. By about 5-15am, we joined 1000s of others making their way to the car park of Cape Town Stadium for the start of the 2013 Cape Town Marathon. It was to be David’s first, but I am sure not his last. Mike & I dropped him off at the start and then we went to Rondebosch where we found an open coffee shop, ordered breakfast and sat and waited.  His first 10km took 56 minutes.

Here he comes - relaxed and happyComfortable – smiling, but 10km is the easy part!

10kmWe finished our breakfast and then drove to the next vantage point, along side Hartleyvale – the 27km mark. He got there in exactly 2 and a half hours. 15km to go. Mike filmed him running by. He said, “I’m tired, but fine”…still smiling!

27kmThen we went to see Granny before heading to the finish…with 1 and a half minutes to go before 4hours, he crossed the finished line…

Finished in more ways than one3 hours 58 minutes and 30 seconds! He was finished, in more ways than one, but no blisters!

Get me homeWell done David! First marathon, BOOM!

This is one thing you need to know when you are running a marathon…

The Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you. 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Now it’s chill time!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 😀
