Come Away With Me

4-42pm

I’m not sure why I chose this title for this particular blog post. I think it came to me when I arrived at our spectacular, out of the way, magnificently rustic, off-the-grid digs for the weekend. It is a hide-away just off the road. But passing traffic is occasional – the silence is incredible. The quiet seeped into my soul the moment we arrived.

We left Cape Town just after 9 & headed off on the N1 through the tunnel. ..(notice the baboons on the left)

to a time when life was slow. The main living area has a massive fire place. We will put that to work tonight!

Rustic bathroomIt has everything we need!  We packed the fridge stuff away and then headed into Ladismith, first for Mike to do see some people and then for us to visit the Ladismith Golf Course. This was an interesting experience!  In these semi-desert regions, water is scarce and so the greens can not be maintained, so they become ‘greys’…

Ladismith golf course…but we played it anyway, joining up with two youngsters for 9 holes. They were so helpful – without them we would never have found our way round the course. The best part was the ‘honesty’ part. Pop your R20 for 9 holes in the postbox!

That done, we have settled down at a little restaurant that has free wi-fi and I have got the blog done! Yeah! Now we are going to go home and light that fire!

Before I finish, it was with a great deal of sadness that I learned of the death of Ori van Schalkwyk yesterday. Ori was someone who worked tirelessly at CCFm for many years. It was only after she left that we really discovered that she did a lot more for the Lord’s work than we ever realised. She was always funny, quirky, classy and careful and we will always remember her with much fondness.

2 Corinthians 5:8

“We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
