Cleaning With Company….

Saturday

What went down at the van Niekerk’s today was unexpected. Mike and I both have asked, ‘what’s got into us?’ We have just got carried away spring cleaning. I think there are two things going on right now. The first is that it’s late spring and I just get an urge to clean when spring comes around. Literally, it’s time to brush away the winter cobwebs and get the place sorted for Christmas. But the urge this year has been far stronger than years gone by because we know that, God willing, we will be moving out in 7 or 8 months time. We will have lived in this house for 31 years. It takes some mental movement to psychologically prepare to dig out the deep roots and plan to relocate regardless of how close by it is. One of the things that is so easy right now is our access. We drive up, open the garage, park the car and walk straight into the house. When we move to Echo, we’ll probably reverse into the garage, get out, close the garage, walk up 77 steps and straight into the house. Our house will be on one level. At the moment we are on two, but there are not 77 steps involved. As soon as the build is done, we will start working on the plans (and finance) for the funicular. We will use the stairs as often as possible but we need the funicular for the years to come. I want to live for as long as I can at the top of those 77 steps.

While I got stuck into under the sink which was an awkward and back-breaking as I thought it would be, Mike got stuck into cleaning the tiles in the passage.

I was cleaning with company in more ways than one….

That’s one bushy tail!

Anyway, once I’d finished wiping away more than 2 years of dirt, I washed out bottles for recycling and put aside a few kitchen things for Valerie-Gail’s Beautiful Gate shop. Then, I made tea. To my joy and delight, Stacey called. Yay! I had a nice long chat with her. Afterwards, I did a bit more cleaning and then set off for gym.

Home, had some recovery time, made a massive salad for dinner, David visited briefly, watched some tennis and now it’s the end of a good Saturday.

John 6:44

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx

I cycled ten chapters of Ezekiel – it took about 52 minutes and covered just over 20km.
