It is hard for me to write this! TIA. This is Africa, but while we have lived in Sun Valley for 28 years, we haven’t had this level of theft. Three burglaries in a month. The first was 9th August, second the 13th August and the third 1st September. Thank you Jesus for your peace amidst confusion.
The third has been the most brazen of them all. The first two were at the cottage and carried out while Mike and I were home.
This one was in our house and carried out while Mike and I were home. Mike was in his study. I was at my desk upstairs working. The thief broke the lock on the back door and made a sound at about 5-45. Mike went downstairs to investigate, but the back door was closed and all seemed quiet. He came back upstairs, got dressed and went to his study to work. I got up and started working at my desk. At 7am, we heard an electric appliance blowing – that kind of pop! I yelled to Mike, “what was that?” He was in his study, had heard the pop. Together we met in the lounge, him arriving a few seconds before me. “Oh no!” he said. “The TV is gone!” He ran out the back door and looked over the front wall. Nothing.
How is it possible that someone can disappear with a 42 inch flat screen TV in 15 seconds?
Turns out it seems he had set everything up. He’d broken the back door lock and waited. In the meantime, he took our garden ladder and propped it up against the back wall in readiness for his getaway. At a time where he thought everything was quiet, he nipped in the back door, ripped the TV cord out the plug and left, rushing across the back garden and tossing the TV over the back wall. We only discovered that about an hour after he had gone. So gone it was.
My response was : WHAT? How did that just happen? How brazen. This is crazy. I’m still shaking my head.
#405 of my 1000 thanks – Thank you Jesus that while evil was in our midst, it did not touch us. They can steal my TV but they can’t steal my joy.
Praise the Lord!
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
Regardless of what happened this morning, I again will tap into the abundant life that Jesus offers.
I refuse to be dismayed. I don’t think it was by accident that I encountered this illustration this morning…
I don’t think God plans these things, but I do know that He allows them to happen and that He works them all for good!
Praise the Lord.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
