Another Burst Water Main

It was not too long ago that we had a burst water main in our neighbourhood. This morning there was another. A massive pipe burst and for two hours precious water ran.

If you are on Facebook, you can see the video here….

This is the massive donga it caused…

Before dawn, the water ran…

Hectic!

Beatie Nelson of the Sun Valley Neighbourhood Watch says that the Fish Hoek Fire brigade are always first to arrive so now an arrangement has been made for them to turn off the water. Waiting for the water department to arrive took two hours! Hopefully, it won’t happen again but if it does, the water will be turned off relatively quickly. This was the last one on November 10th last year.

At that time we weren’t so fanatical about water loss. Now that the water situation in Cape Town is critical, we are neurotic! What a waste.

The other thing about 31st August is that it is the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death. I remember that day so well. I don’t think I can think of another day (apart from 9-11) that I sat glued to the TV for such a long period of time. It was just so shocking.

Our lives are a brief moment. This morning I read such an interesting Bible verse and one I’ve read many times before but jumped out at me because of the unexpected word at the end. Plato once said,  “Must not all things at the last be swallowed up in death?” Paul says something different.
2 Corinthians 5:4

“For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by LIFE!”

We are not headed for death, but for life! We’re not going to die, we are going to live!

#405 of my 1000 thanks is for a nice long 85 minute walk from Fish Hoek to Simon’s Town with Julian! That was great!

These are the days!

Keep the smile going!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
