What They Can & Can’t Steal

So here we go again. That was how I felt yesterday. After the crazy brazen intruder stole our 42 inch TV (not 54 as we thought), it was back to the drawing board in regard to security and it was rebuilding our emotional health after the violation. This is day one. I was jittery and skittish yesterday, but still joyful!

It’s more than the TV that got stolen. They can steal the TV but they can’t steal my joy. However, there are other things that get stolen…

Time.

Such a lot of time. Phone the police, phone the security, speak to all the neighbours, mend the broken door, get security gates, reevaluate, speak to the police, have long discussions with everyone, phone insurance.

Peace.

I noticed when the cottage got burgled, they couldn’t steal my joy but the theft dented my peace. And so it has happened again. My peace has been dented. I woke up at midnight and couldn’t sleep. Finally fell asleep at 2am only to wake up at 4am. I want to be awake to hear something.

But this is day one. The first 24 hours. And as we instituted a few more security measures and tightened up, I felt less jittery and skittish.

This morning, Mike and I put in a security gate. It was a fun project to do together. It took me back 32 years to when he worked at the Y and was always doing these maintenance kind of projects. He put on his old blue overalls and got stuck in to marking and drilling and bolting and I got to help him. So this is before and after!

It took us an hour and a half. Time well spent. Onto the next one!

Isaiah 41:10

‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

We trust the Lord.

# 406 of my 1000 thanks. Yesterday after this happened, I had nervous energy to get rid of. I washed, cleaned and vacuumed and had the great pleasure last night to climbing into a bed of lovely clean linen!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
