Breathing in the Moment

I saw a question on Twitter the other day that got me thinking, “What was the favourite part of your day today?” I like to think that my 1000 thanks each day incorporates that. It was a different way of being reminded to think of the day. To breath in the moment.

#648 of my 1000 thanks was today at gym. Back story: I would not have gone to gym today if I didn’t have to go out and have my hair cut. It was cold and drizzly outside. Inside was warm and comfortable. I didn’t like the idea of getting changed out of warm and getting into cold gym kit. As I hardly worked yesterday, I had a truckload of work to catch up on. My colleague had already contacted me at 7-15am to find out if I was available for a Skype chat. I worked through until about 11 and then got changed and went to have my hair cut. Then it was to gym. The Grid was at 1pm. I arrived at 12-30. Perfect. I did some walking warm up and then went to the Grid. Six short bursts of six exercises of about 35  seconds each, set in an accumulative time frame.

  • Exercise 1 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 1 & 2 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 1, 2 & 3 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 1,2,3 &4 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 1,2,3,4 & 5 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 1,2,3,4,5 & 6
  • 60 second break
  • Exercise 6 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 6 & 5 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 6,5 & 4 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 6,5,4 & 3 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 6,5,4,3 & 2 – 30 second rest.
  • Exercise 6,5,4,3,2 & 1

Your workout is complete!

Thirty minutes of Gruel. Today was bad. I was exhausted. I went to the Bike to cool down for 5 minutes.

#648 of my 1000 thanks came after 2 minutes on the bike. My heart rate had dropped from high up in the 140s and came down to the low 130s. I was glowing. No longer exhausted, I had this incredible high as endorphins were released. I sat on the bike breathing in the moment. I felt the sweat pouring down my neck, dripping off my hairline, trickling off my brow.  I felt ALIVE.  That was a really great moment in the day.

That was good!

For the rest of the day before and after my outing, I worked.

Tonight there is a big soccer match on. Mike has suddenly got into it. Liverpool play Roma. Popcorn has been made. Yes, it’s that big.  (I really hope he doesn’t expect me to watch with him. Maybe David will be lured over!)

Meantime, I will climb into bed! That sounds pretty good to me.

Psalm 94:14

The Lord will not reject His people; He will not abandon His special possession.

Amen!

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
