Boast About This…

3-32pm

The end of the weekend is drawing near. It’s been a good day today and a lovely couple of days all in all. Julian has been here since Friday and with him working yesterday, he and I spent some time today. It’s his birthday at the end of the month, so we went shopping and out for a mammoth cappuccino …

It  went down very well with a gobsmackingly good chocolate croissant…

It was joined by a lot of jovial conversation! Gotta love Julian! 🙂

I have also walked (to offset above calories) and done show prep.

Over the last couple of days, I’ve been reading the book of Jeremiah. To be honest, it’s been a bit depressing. The people of God were just not getting it right. It seemed to be following a repetitive pattern of dire sin, followed by a brief time of repentance, coming back to God…wandering away, more sin and idolatry, realising the error of their ways, coming back to God, repentance, wandering away and so the circle went on.  To break the pattern, it all starts with one person and that’s the person writing this, or the person reading this. ME. YOU. As I did my Bible reading today, in the Old Testament, I read this: Jeremiah 9:23-24, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom – or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts, boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth for in these I delight,’  says the Lord.”

In my New Testament reading, Paul in Colossians 3:12-14, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothes yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

Sometimes, we have to step back & simplify – simplify our thoughts; simplify our emotions; simplify our words. Just focus on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Let those words rule our thoughts, our feelings, our speech and our actions. Regardless. The Lord exercises these things through us. So, sit back, relax, take a deep breath, don’t worry. Let the Lord rule in your mind and heart and hands. He will give you the compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience you need, if you let Him have the reigns to your life. He won’t grab them out of your hands. You will have to hand them over to Him and then leave them there. When you do that…watch and see what happens. That way, you will contribute to your life and not contaminate your life.

Your life will be different.

And so into a new week we go…trying to slow it all down… make it all count…

God bless you loads!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
