Blasphemous Red Bull Advert…

5-30pm

Unexpected interruptions happen. Today there were two of them. Last night I noticed a couple of comments on Facebook regarding a Red Bull television advert that had just aired. I didn’t take much notice, but when I got to the office this morning, there was an email in my inbox that spelled out exactly what was in the advert and it was absolutely shocking. I’ve got the You Tube clip, although I have subsequently been told some of them have been taken off, so this may not be working.

What I wrote to Red Bull  to say is that the world is full and vibrant and has a million different types of options for advertising. Why on earth do they have to choose the God we serve in Jesus Christ? He is MY God. I worship Him, daily. I LOVE Him. They would not take the prized child or wife or mother or father of the  executive director and set them up to be mocked on national television. They would not even consider that. They wouldn’t consider doing this with Mohammed either.

I took my extreme disappointment onair and the response was incredible. Tonnes of messages and emails and sms’s came in. Red Bull in Observatory was peppered with calls and emails. We have subsequently heard that the advert has been pulled but are waiting for confirmation.

On a far happier and positive note, I was wading through music preparation when my phone rang and our receptionist Jacky  said Andrew Cyprianos (from Revelstone) was downstairs for a radio interview with Jonathan Macris from Hellenic Ministries. I rushed down to see them. Then while they were in the studio,  I wrapped up my work and the three of us went out for coffee…

That was cool.

Got to dash now as I have training on at CCFm this evening!

Job 8:8-9 has some sound advice… “Ask the former generations and find out what their fathers learned, for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow.”

Life is short. Make every moment count.

God bless you loads!

In His Grip,

Helga x 🙂
