Another Glorious, Short, Cape Town Walk…

7-10am

This time it was Mike’s idea and Clovelly was the starting point. We parked a short distance along Clovelly Rd, on the left and walked up an overgrown path. The path on the open space between the first house  and the big electrical distribution building (both on the right side of the road). With all the rain, the grass is long, but the path is still visible. Just a little way up and the views already are amazing…

better early viewThe path is along the firebreak, so it is neither too high nor too steep. FlowersIt is exceptionally pleasant! I am just kicking myself that I have lived in the area for 24 years and never done it! Spring is here in Cape Town and there are flowers everywhere. The path hugs the lower slope of mountain, with first Clovelly Road below and then the Main Road between Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay. I’ve driven the route below thousands of times and have regularly stood on Fish Hoek Beach looking up at that mountain. So walking the path gave us the return perspective. With all the rain, parts of the path are a bit overgrown…

BushyBut not for long. It was overcast and a perfect day for walking. A short time later and we were looking down at Clovelly Beach…

Above ClovellyA few dogs came to remind us that we were intruding on their back yard…

A few dogsUnique view of Fish Hoek from the Clovelly mountainside…

Fish Hoek beach at right anglesA panoramic of False Bay….

False Bay panoramaThe path continues further, but we took a turn that found us at one of the short roads just above Kalk Bay houses….

KBWe walked down to the Main Rd and back to the car stopping to imagine what it would be like if there were no railway line…

At Kalk BayI am definitely going to be doing this walk again!

Today is Sunday and the plan is for Mike to go to church. Julian and I are going into town to spend some time with Granny.  Yesterday, my Bible reading took me through Isaiah 54 to 57.  No matter who you are, where you live, what your background, there are two things God offers you today and every day – Isaiah 54:10

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor my covenant of peace be removed, ” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

God’s love and peace be on you today! He is dependable and trustworthy.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
