Another Fire!

Thursday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day Oupa moved into your home. It is wonderful that you are able to be there to keep him company and celebrate Christmas with him. I’m so glad your parents are there to be able to look after him. We are praying for him and for you all.

Today was the day another fire broke out on the hill over the mountain from us. The wind is only expected to drop overnight but right now it is blowing gales and it has caused the fire to swoop down the mountain towards Stonehaven Estate.  We went for a drive when we heard about it to find out exactly where it was. It’s at the Sun Valley side of Fish Hoek mountain – it started on the Glencairn side and has swept along the ridge.

The wind is so strong, it’s really blown it into an inferno.

My thoughts are with all the residents both at Stonehurst and in the Evergreen Retirement Village. The fire services have now closed Glencairn Expressway and are doing all they can to prevent damage to property. There is news that Stonehurst may need to be evacuated. This has just been posted coming from the Capri Neighbourhood Watch group.

It’s going to be a long night. The wind is due to drop by morning. These fires are so unpredictable. With the wind, sparks can fly far and wide.

Isaiah 51:6
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx
