An Unexpected Day

You know how it is when something in your life is happening and everything revolves around that? That’s what life has been like for me over the last week. The travel days have been the focus on my attention and the last one is tomorrow, although it is only in Cape Town. Today has turned out to be an unexpected day. Mike and I woke early and we went down to Simon’s Town for 9 holes of golf. We did it because we could. Suddenly there was a low pressure day. The early morning was blustery and overcast…

We happily enjoyed having the golf course to ourselves, apart from some keen dogs taking their owners for a walk. The golf course staff were also out and it was great to see the course looking green and well kept. Mike went round in 40.

Breakfast at the clubhouse followed and we home not long after 9am. Pretty good start to the day.

While I’ve done 4 hours of work today, I also found myself lying on my bed reading. Now that was unexpected. And, as soon as this blog is done, I’m going to return to my book. 🙂

I’m sure that when the Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah he would have reflected on an amazing unexpected day.

Jeremiah 32:26-27

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?”

A wonderful reminder. Sometimes in my spirit, I have had a small non-audible question come into my mind. Once I was praying and the question was, “If you were to pray anything and know for 100% certainty that the prayer would be answered, what would you pray?” Another time, I was driving along thinking about the Bible & how God uses it to communicate with us. A question popped into my head, “Do you believe God can use the Word of God to speak to you every single day?” Of course the answer to that was “Of course, yes!” Amazingly, there was more – that sort of went like this, “Try Me and see.”

And so the next day, I read carefully through my Bible reading and when a verse jumped out at me, I wrote it down and then wrote a few words about it. As a result, a year full of daily readings came to life. I wrote them by hand in a book and many times shared them with my fellow workers at CCFm and read them on air. Now I’m typing them up for you to read!

The Word of the Lord comes to us. It may be a small still voice; it may be a deep prompting; it may be  the Word of God and a voice jumping off the page. Whatever is happening, stay in touch with the Lord because today He says you, “I am the Lord, the God of ALL mankind. Is ANYTHING too hard for Me?”

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
