After waking early this morning, I did an hour of work and that freed me up for the rest of the morning to go with Julian to Rhodes Memorial. I haven’t been there for ages. After mid morning coffee at the restaurant we spent some time admiring the monument itself.
The pillars are enormous…
Julian admiring the view…
And what a view it is…
The monument from the bottom of the stairs…
We got home at lunchtime and I have worked this afternoon and got quite a lot accomplished.
The reason we were up so early this morning was because of another unexpected night event. (Not breaking glass this time). Mike is a night-owl. He will work until late into the night and then while waiting for his computer to complete processing something, he will watch some TV. When he goes to check his computer, he first pauses the TV. So in the middle of the night he had paused the TV and then forgot about it and came to bed. After a few hours, the decoder automatically turns ‘pause’ off, so at about 4-30am, suddenly the TV blared into life. We both woke with a start and Mike went downstairs to turn it off. Now wide awake, he went to his office to do some backups. He was gone for ages. I was awake and decided to have some fun. We have an internal phone system, so I phoned his office. He answered, “Hello?” I replied, “Is that room service?” He said “Yes, what can I get you?” I said, “I’m in the penthouse suite. Please can you bring me 2 cappuccinos?” “No problem”, he replied, “Coming right up!”
And so room service arrived and the day truly began!
#247 of my 1000 thanks is for these early mornings, fun games and a lovely touristy trip in my own city!
And from my Bible reading I get to echo the words of the Psalmist:
Psalm 71:5
For You have been my hope, O Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.
My only confidence.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
