Remembering 9-11

9-44am

12 years today. It was an event that shook the world. When you watch the documentaries covering details of what happened, it’s shocking. Most of us remember where we were on 11th September Never forget2001. I was standing in the kitchen, staring in stunned silence at the TV screen as the 2nd plane hit. Morbid fascination took over as we sat glued to the  graphic images that splashed across the world’s screens.

In the aftermath of it, many stories of miracles came to light. Amazing accounts of people whose lives were miraculously spared. We will never understand this side of eternity how it works that God spares some and others die young.  But deep in my soul, I know that it is not about now. That a lot more happens when we cross from this life to the next. Gavin Durr has written a poem about 9-11

THE NEW YORK – 911 TRAGEDY

(Written by Gavin Durr by God’s Grace )

The dawn in New York … seemed like any other day …
People hustling … bustling … children at play
The city had awakened to a thousand sounds …
Trucks and cars … buses … taxis … all doing their rounds …
But a catastrophe was on its way …
And for New York … there awaited a horrific and terrible day …
As usual the twin towers’ lifts carried their daily load …
How could they know … that on that day … those buildings would explode …
Where were the warnings… so many lives could have been saved? …
“Your future is foretold in the stars” … were the claims daily made! …
Where were these “fortune tellers” … who claimed amazing powers? …
To save the thousands … now walking to their deaths in these towers …
There was a cry from a church nearby …
That warned New York that folks would die …
No one took notice … too little too late …
And the city of New York awaited it’s fate …
Who was this voice that dared talk of doom …
The tragedy was … they would all learn soon
A tragedy was unfolding … that would rock them that day …
Four aircraft were in the air – hi-jacked by the terrorists … death on its way …
The passengers on board … had no say at all …
They were part of a plan … as history would recall …
The plan was so evil … to kill as they can …
So awful was this horrific and evil plan …
Headlong they crashed into the buildings that day …
The churches are now full … as people now pray …
Lord it’s so sad that this should be …
Only in trouble most people turn back to Thee …
So often You have warned … but Your cry is not heard …
Just look at this tragedy … it should never have occurred.

It’s a somber reminder that we need to be ready! Life could end any time! Apart from remember 9-11 today,  there is great bloodshed in Syria, where it is said 5000 people have died per month since July. The Christian population in Syria are living in uncertain and fearful times. They are under threat & in extreme danger. Every day may be their last.  Then there is great bloodshed in Syria, where it is said 5000 people have died per month since July. The Christian population in Syria are living in uncertain and fearful times. They are under threat & in extreme danger. Every day may be their last. Today I read what their (& our) response should be Isaiah 8:13/14a “The Lord Almighty is the One you are to regard as holy, He is the One you are to fear, He is the One you are to dread, and He will be a Sanctuary.” Anyone can end our earthly life, but no one, apart from God, can touch our soul. The Amplified Version says, “regard God as your ONLY hope of safety. And He shall be a sanctuary – a sacred & indestructible asylum to those who reverently fear and trust in Him.” We all need that – an indestructible asylum!

God bless you today and keep trusting God for you life.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
