WW2 in HD Colour

Jess and Gerrie (my niece and her husband) came to Cape Town for Christmas. Gerrie set up Netflix on our TV – from his Netflix account. He has left it for us to use, so now we have Netflix and don’t even have to pay for it! Win!

One of the series we are currently watching is World War 2 in HD Colour.

It is just hectic. World War 2. The destruction – dreadful loss of life across so many nations. So many young men cut down in the prime of their lives – so many civilians blown up in their homes, from many different countries – so many buildings, ships and planes blown to bits. It was utter devastation. It makes our drought look minor in comparison.

I think the one thing that the world has learned from the second world war is that they never want to live through that again. When you see the vivid action, the pain and the chaos that ensued in high-definition colour, it comes home to viewers one and all, that war is evil. It’s been interesting to watch, but more so it’s been sobering.

Never again. I hope the leaders of the world say that to themselves. Let us not go to war. The cost is too high.

If you are interested in history, you will be keen to watch this series. It brings the history of WW2 to life, at times in unpleasant graphic detail. It will leave a lasting impression.

On a lighter and happier note, last night we went to the Galley for dinner. We had tap water. We were insistent upon it as last time we were there they said they were not allowed to serve tap water, so we accepted 1.5 litre bottle of sparkling water for which we paid an exorbitant price. We love going to the Galley. I think their yellowtail is the best in the valley. But to pay 4 or 5 times the price of a grocery store bottle of water is a bit over the top. Apart from the food, the view is one of the best. Check this out…tug of war on Fish Hoek beach…the team on the left one. What a beautiful evening!

And there in is my #557 of my 1000 thanks – the privilege and pleasure of dinner at Fish Hoek beach.

Psalm 25:4-5

Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Saviour, and my hope is in You all day long.

Amen!

Gym – 2.5km run. 10km cycle. 30 lengths of crawl.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
