Never Give Up

I’m sure I’ve probably written about not giving up before, but I was reminded of it today as we were watching the qualifying rounds to the winter Olympics. Something incredible happened back in the 2002 winter Olympic games when Steven Bradbury, an excellent speed skater, but not the world’s fastest won the gold medal in the most unconventional way…just keep an eye on him. He’s the guy at the back!

His last place position proved the best feature to allow his win in the end. You never know what is ahead. Never give up!

Today has been actually a really nice day. We had an early lunch and then Julian and I headed over Chapman’s Peak, all the way past Hout Bay to Bantry Bay and over Kloof Nek to the Blue Cafe.

Such a beautiful spot. A few things happened on our outing. The police went by and were ticketing cars that were parked facing the wrong way. That was the first thing. When we paid the bill, there was an interesting addition to the receipt. We found the explanation on the menu in (very) fine print.

It says, “The Blue Cafe is committed to maintaining the essence and character of Brownlow Road (and Tamboerskloof). Each table seated for a meal will be charged R5, which will be donated to maintaining security in the road.”

That’s a first. 🙂

We left and drove up “one of the greatest roads in the Mother City” and saw a show house, so we stopped to take a look. We didn’t go in, but the estate agent was outside and came running up to us. We explained we were just looking and were not serious buyers. We asked how much? It’s a 4 bedroom home in a high up quiet nook of Tamboerskloof.

R14 000 000

Yip. R14 million.

Can’t walk to the beach from there!

It’s time for us to head to church.

#558 of my 1000 thanks is for “me time”. I just love my daily opportunity to veg out and have some me time.

Psalm 43:3

Send out Your light and Your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to Your holy mountain, to the place where You live.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
