Would You Press The Time Button?

Saturday

If there were a time button that could fast forward you through time to get past the waiting or hard time we encounter in life, would you press it? Two years ago, the spate of 5 burglaries we had, began on 9th August 2017. They ended on about 25th September when one of the suspects was caught by the neighbourhood watch. I remember thinking during that time, ‘wake me up when September ends.’ At the end of September, we were heading off overseas for 5 weeks.

If I had been able to press the time button which would take me from 8th August (before the first burglary) to the end of September 2017, I would have saved myself so much fear and anxiety. BUT, I also would have missed out on a couple of highlights of that time. To start with, I had an amazing dinner with Mike on the evening of the 9th August – a memorable time of reflection and appreciation at Harbour House in Kalk Bay. I would have missed out on that. More importantly, during the thick of it, on one of the darkest days, I would have missed out on an amazing answer to prayer. Pressing the time button (if I could have) to avoid the pain, would have resulted in missing out on the blessings as well.  It wouldn’t have been worth it.

Life is full of hard days, but I don’t want to miss a single one. God is in every moment of every day. With Him there are no surprises and nothing happens without His presence, His permission and His purpose. So if you are having a hard time, hang in there. The best is yet to come.

Today, we had breakfast with Julian in Kalk Bay. We also walked a bit.  A KB alley…

I also took a photo of Fish Hoek Mountainside (I zoomed in a bit) so we could see the Echo Rd cottage.

I took Julian to the airport and returned rather tired. I rested, chatted to Stacey and then went to gym.

Came home, showered and am in bed! I finished reading Rebecca and tonight (probably) will start the sequel to The Good Earth. It’s called Sons. I’m on track for a book a month which was my humble goal for 2019.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂

Gym:

I ran 5km and then walked most of the rest of the way to the hour mark. Did some Pilates exercises and stretches and went home.
