When I do no work on a Sunday, I spend all of Monday catching up. The most noticeable thing about today which warrants an “office party” is that it is three years ago today that I started working for Edvectus. It was on this day that I first Skyped with the MD of the company and she got me to sign an NDA which is dated today. 🙂
Mike and I had a good laugh about having an office party. There is just he and I and ordering cake for the two of us is a joke, although David has arrived to visit and watch tennis and he would be a very happy recipient of cake! A picture will do.
#352 of my 1000 thanks is for my job at Edvectus. It fulfills me; it stretches me; it challenges me; I really enjoy it.
So David picked up a hitch-hiker on his way home. He said as he left Swellendam (to drive back to Cape Town with his bike in the back), there was an old chap (aged about 60) standing on the side of the road who was making his way back to Khayelitsha after a funeral. David took him the whole way, dropping him off by Mew Way. On the  way, they stopped at a farm stall and David bought him a pie. His English was pretty awful, so he phoned his wife and asked his wife to speak to David to say thank you for the pie. He would not eat it but would take it home and share it with his wife. As their journey ended, the old man tried to give him R50, which David refused.
It was a heart warming story. Picking up hitch-hikers is not recommended and David said if the man was 30 years younger, he wouldn’t have done it.
We need to be as shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves…words of Jesus.
Matthew 10:16
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.”
It’s not always easy to get the balance right.
Right now I’m off to watch some tennis!
These are the days!
Keep the smile going!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
