You can pack a lot into 24 hours. I arrived in Durban at about 7-30 last evening after a non eventful flight. The R80 shuttle was waiting. I just love that these is this really convenient low cost option. It dropped me at the hotel and I settled in for an early night.
City view from my room…
This morning I went first to the business centre and to my great joy, by 6-30am tech staff were all ready and testing. Yesterday in Cape Town we started 45 mins late due to disorganised tech staff. A big buffet breakfast followed. How it rolls at the Hilton is slightly different to what I have experienced before. Before I tell you, let me first say I am not a regular guest at a 5 star hotel, but the Hilton had a weekday lower price and so for the convenience of staying at the same venue as the interviews, I took it.
So on entering the restaurant for breakfast you are welcomed and told the specials; then escorted to your table and introduced to your waiter. I had Tiny. One of the specials was a ginger shot…a murky smoothy made with ginger, lemon and yoghurt..
It was very good!!! I had a second and Tiny saw my enjoyment of it and offered me a takeaway which I accepted! He also gave me a takeaway cappuccino. That 6-30am breakfast has sustained me all day. I think I may have a nibble at the airport in an hour or two.
Apart from Tiny’s diligent attention, the Hilton also allowed me a 2pm checkout which gave me time to shower and chill after the busy morning. Also I forgot toothpaste and they were quick to deliver some to my room.
The interviews went off ok…a few technical glitches but we finished at 12-30 which was excellent. The candidates were all great and I wish them every success.
The shuttle will arrive in the next half hour and I will trundle off to the airport.
#59 of my 1000 thanks is that this round of interviews is over.
#60 of my 1000 thanks is TOOTHPASTE!
And that is whistlestop Durban.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga 🙂
