When Will The House Be Finished?

Sunday

It’s been a restful Sunday.  We went to the 8am church service which was a children’s nativity play. It was very cute. The sermon was also directed towards the children and the service ended up being 45 minutes long.

After that we did some shopping and then came home. I immediately went out again to take Truffle’s left over cat food and medication to Tears. Tears understand: As I explained what I was there for, the receptionist was very compassionate and sympathetic. Those who have had to walk this path know the pain, despite this being ‘only a cat’. Mike was brave to make this trip on my own. He doesn’t know what goes down at Tears. The moment I walked in, I spotted the cutest little black and white kitten.  He was lucky I didn’t arrive home with it. 😀

After a late breakfast we watched an almost disastrous Australian Grand Design where the build was intended to take 6 months and cost $A 800 000.  The wife doing the design was so confident at the beginning, but some key errors were made that resulted in long delays and extreme financial cost. In the end it took 5 years and cost more than a million Australian dollars. At the end she was battle worn.  It was quite sobering.

David came for lunch which was great. He is gearing up for China, although there is still some paperwork that needs to arrive before he can send it all in to get the visa.

I had an afternoon snooze which was very civil. We then went to Echo to see what work was done yesterday. They’ve finished the brickwork up to beam height. The rest of the building will be in light steel. This is the lower ground floor from below.

The lower ground floor from above…the beam will go on top and tie in with the next floor.

The lower ground floor from the door…

And the lower ground floor looking towards the door…

We have been blessed to have done this in stages. A year ago we were busy getting the design finalised. In March clearing began and we did the piles. We also dismantled the planters either side of the garage at street level so we would have more space to park off the road.  Then in October, we started stabilising the land. Ten days into October when we had received no objections from the neighbours we were able to move more fully ahead.  It still took time to excavate, but it won’t be long before we have finished most of the wet work and the light steel frame can be ordered.

Big question: When will the house be finished?

I don’t really know, but if I guess the ground floor will be finished mid January, the first floor end of February and the top floor end of March, we can then say April for the roof and May & June for the finishes, it may be possible for us to move in July. But I’m guessing! We’ll have to wait and see.

December.

I love December.

Psalm 105:1

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let he whole world know what He has done.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,
