When NOTHING is good!

11-07am

I’m happy to announce that I have not complained since the recycling bin! Yesterday I bought a chocolate (see my gratitude pic below) & when I got to the till and they rang it up, it scanned R32 instead of 11! How’s that for a till blunder? If I wasn’t concentrating, I would have just paid and walked out, but I WAS concentrating and said, ‘that can’t be!’ This is a difference between complaining and drawing attention to an error! This was definitely the latter! I drew their attention to a mistake and asked them to check, which they did. What surprised me is that the bar code was wrong in the till itself. I wondered how many people had bought that chocolate and it had go through will all the other shopping and the excessive price wasn’t noticed. If I’d been at another supermarket, I may have got it for free!

This morning’s Focus on the Family on CCFm was brilliant. Pastor Ed Underwood has a very personal story of extreme suffering and how it led him to ‘give up on God.’ It’s a great relief that when we give up on God, He doesn’t give up on us.  You can listen to the programme yourself.

Talking of hardship, never underestimate God! There is a brilliant nugget of wisdom recorded for us in the Old Testament that is pregnant with insight into God’s intimate relationship with us.

Genesis 18:

12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, ‘After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?’ 13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh and say, “Will I really have a child, now that I am old?” 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.’

“Sarah laughed TO HERSELF as she THOUGHT…” – she did not speak out loud. It wasn’t a conversation she had with Abraham. It was all in her mind. We have all chuckled to ourselves over something. Even then, we have a Witness to what goes on in our minds. We need to be careful what we think. Next time you imagine the impossible, remember 2 things: 1. God sees your thoughts. 2. NOTHING is too hard for the Lord! NOTHING!

God bless you today!

In His Grip,

Gratitude Pic: This whole 35g bar (8 squares) has 12g carbs and 180 calories. So that’s 3g carbs per 2 squares…it’s a pleasure to consume them!
