I was shocked when I saw the latest school shooting at a rural college in Oregon, USA. I was even more shocked when I heard that the shooter picked off Christians.
This is what one of the injured students Anastasia Boylan said,
What would I have said? I am sure I would have been petrified but I hope that within my fear, the truth would have come out.
The gunman died in a shoot-out with police. Eternity gained 9 souls. The Christians entered eternity within an hour of the shooter himself. He too would be face to face with God.
These are the words of Jesus,
John 12:26
“If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honour him.”
Pray for the families of those who have died. The shooter himself leaves behind devastated family members who are struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
The world is a violent place, regardless of where you live – there is uncertainty all around. The one thing we can know for sure is that nothing will happen without the Lord’s presence, His permission and His purpose being worked out in your life.
Trust Him.
