Have you ever asked yourself that question? I know I have. What is the purpose for life? Is my life meaningful? Will I be forgotten? Does my life have significance? What legacy will I leave? All questions that have from time to time flitted through my mind. Today I met with someone who has significance in her world. Wife of senior pastor of Hillsong South Africa, Mom to three and significant woman of worth, Lucinda Dooley is absolutely inspirational. She came into record an advert for the upcoming Colour Conference (4th/5th April – Ladies don’t miss it!)
Lucinda is lovely. She’s really easy to get on with and is very easy going. Being a pastor’s wife has its challenges and I’m sure it’s no different with Lucinda. I think being in the public eye, you have to learn to let things go. You will be criticised, complained at and corrected. Best option – like in cricket a batsman will let a dud ball go through to the keeper, your job is to be the batsman in your world. Any unfair criticism or hurtful words, let them go through to your Keeper – ie Jesus who watches your back!
Lucinda has international influence – takes it all in her stride and after recording sat down with me at the Backpackers opposite CCFm. It’s so convenient and they make great coffee and breakfast. She said, ‘I’ve never been in a backpackers before!’ Then to our amusement and delight, 2 young women sitting at the next table suddenly burst forth in amazement…’Aren’t you the lady from Hillsong? We were at your church on Sunday!” Tourists from Holland, they are visiting Cape Town and had spent the night at the backpackers. Love it! Lucinda preached on Sunday – three sermons back to back – on how we are united in Christ. Those two girls were part of the service. They were thrilled!
As for my life & purpose, well, my little stage is very small in comparison, but I know that I get up every morning and go and do what I’ve been called to do. My job is twofold: to tell those who don’t have a relationship with God, that they can have one and to encourage those who do. My job between 6 & 9am Monday to Friday is to get you up and excited about the day. It’s all going to be okay. There’s nothing that is going to happen to you today without God’s presence, His permission and His purpose. Can I be all things to all people? Absolutely NOT! But God can, so I do my bit and leave the rest to the Keeper whose got my back. So safe!

Gratitude/Happiness pic… filled with pleasure when I was out walking (to the golf course yesterday) and I happened upon a whole sidewalk of flame lilies….aaaah, the ex-Rhodie coming out in me….
They grow well in Fish Hoek. I have seeds planted in my garden, (thanks Leone!) but they haven’t come up yet…they clearly loved this side walk…
