Swellendam is in the country – far from the craziness and drought of Cape Town. I always thought that I could never live in Swellendam, but there is one thing I can say for this small town and that is here I feel SAFE.
This morning Mike and I did a couple of hours of work and then we headed off to Swellendam Golf Course for 18 holes of golf. Remember I am not a player but rather the caddy. I follow Mike round and encourage him, help find his ball and take random photos of him….
I also drag the golf cart! There are other sights to behold at Swellendam golf course. Down the lower part of the course, there is a farm. Today, I spotted the cows going off to pasture…
Mike was about to tee off. While he was busy with his practice swing, I stood and looked at these 5 mombies and in my best cow voice I mooed at them. Their response was classic…they stopped in their tracks and every single one checked me out…
I clearly caught their attention. After Mike hit his shot, we both mooed at them. They glared back at us. We went away laughing, while they continued on their way to find some good grass.
It was quite entertaining.
#636 of my 1000 thanks is making memories on the Swellendam golf course – mooing at cows!
After three hours or more of golf, we had certainly got our exercise for the day. We bought berries at the berry farm and then returned to Adrian and Stacey. This evening Adrian’s Dad visited and we had a braai. Now we are settling in for the evening. I’m going to go and have a (long, uninterrupted, hot) shower.
The night sounds of Swellendam are very peaceful. There is no traffic noise, no loud TVs here and no sirens! I will be lulled to sleep this evening by the night-song of an army of frogs frequenting the ditch that runs through the garden. Tomorrow we return home. The next time we see our beautiful daughter, God willing, she will be a Mother. Right now, I am Granny in waiting and she is Mom in waiting! And she is doing such a fine job of it too. Not long now my Poppet!
Psalm 9:9-10
The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
