We Journeyed Home

Friday

Dear Elsie

Today was the day we came home, but we took the long route. This meant going via Betty’s Bay which is where we honeymooned 37 years ago. The place has grown up, but the road on which we stayed is still a dirt road. There was no electricity in those days. The place had gas. This is the house from the beach…

Since then it has been built on, but I forgot to take a photo today. So after Betty’s Bay we headed home but on the N2 there was a sudden downpour of rain and we missed the Baden Powell turn off! That became messy because the next two off-ramps you want to avoid. Eventually, we took the 3rd and went through Mitchell’s Plain, onto Spine and then onto Baden Powell. I don’t like going odd & unfamiliar routes in unsettled Cape Town suburbs. While all this was happening, a booking came through for the Seaview Apartment for today! So amidst the rain and the Garmin lady giving directions, I was confirming a reservation for a couple who would arrive at 4pm.

We got home later than expected and within half an hour we had an appointment on the hillside with the building inspector and engineer.

Everything is fine except he wants to see the plumbing joins and double check the plumber’s work. This means we have to dig those open and he will visit on Tuesday. Quentin got on very well with Mike especially when he saw Mike’s theodolite. He stayed way after Paul left and we picked his brain regarding the build and expectations. He’s coming again on Tuesday.

Dinner is done. Some TV is watched. The rain is falling. My electric blanket is on. I’m going to shower.

Psalm 145:14
The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
