Way Too Positive

There is a family member, who shall remain nameless, who claims I am “way too positive.” It works like this:

Example: Something negative will be said about the  game of cricket South Africa was playing (and losing) against Australia.  I will agree, except, I punctuate my comment with a ‘but’ and then say something positive eg. it’s early days or they can still come back or what goes around comes around.

Example: Something negative will be said about South Africa and the possibility of taking land without compensation. I agree, but again I will punctuate it with a “but” and say something like, “they’ve seen what happened in Zimbabwe and they will understand that it has to be controlled.”

It was only when ‘family member’ drew it to my attention that I realised that every single time someone says something negative, somewhere in my follow-up comment, I counteract it with something positive.

I was quite shocked.

Can’t I just let my family say something negative without insisting that it’s not as bad as they say?

Even when they told me this, I started counteracting with something positive. The look family member gave me was enough to shut me up! Since then, in my conversations with Mike, I’ve also realised it and have had to stop in my tracks and ditch the “but”. There’s a time for over-optimism but not every time.

I’m going to have to learn a new skill…

Let them be!

So funny!

You hear about people learning to be positive in 21 days. You don’t hear of someone needing to learn to tone down the positivity in 21 days!

Today has been a good balanced day with some work, some gym, some washing, some cleaning and in a few minutes, I’ve got another Skype call.

Gym was 10 minutes fast walking, 30 minutes of the Grid and then 20 minutes on the bike.

It was great!

#588 of my 1000 thanks is today Stacey is 30 weeks pregnant! 30! Three quarters. Ten weeks to go. I’m a Granny in waiting.

Romans 6:14

Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

Praise the Lord for God’s grace. He is merciful.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
